If you ever find yourself in Mierlo with a hankering for some aquatic adventure, look no further than Happepappa's Whale Watching Tours! Who knew the local canal could be a hotspot for marine life? Move over, Atlantic Ocean, Mierlo's canal is where the real action is!
Our journey began with a warm welcome from Captain Happepappa himself, a man with a twinkle in his eye and a hat that could rival any pirate's. As we set sail (or rather, gently motored) down the canal, we were regaled with tales of the majestic creatures we were about to encounter. Little did we know, we were in for a treat that would make even David Attenborough jealous.
First up, we spotted a pod of Canal Whales. Yes, you heard that right. These magnificent creatures, known for their ability to navigate narrow waterways, put on a show that left us all in awe. We counted 15 different species of whales, each more beautiful than the last. From the elusive Mierlo Minke to the playful Dutch Dolphin, it was a veritable parade of marine magnificence.
But the pièce de résistance was yet to come. Just as we thought the tour couldn't get any better, out of the murky depths emerged... a purple crocodile! Now, I know what you're thinking: "Crocodiles aren't purple!" But trust me, this one was. Whether it was a trick of the light or a result of some very creative local wildlife, it was the highlight of the trip. The kids were thrilled, and the adults were left scratching their heads in wonder.
Throughout the tour, the crew of Happepappa kept us entertained with their witty banter and encyclopedic knowledge of canal wildlife. They even served up some delicious snacks – whale-shaped cookies, anyone? – and hot cocoa to keep us warm.
